Student Services
The College has a number of student support services to ensure your stay at the College is free of the sort of impediments that may impact on your studies.
That's why we assign you to a Student Support Officer (SSO) when you join to assist you with any issues - academic or non-academic - that may arise during your stay.
In addition to this, the College provides the following standard support services for students:
Student loan services are available to UK and European Union students. We offer advice and assistance if you wish to apply for a student loan. Please contact the Admissions Office for more information on the Career Development Loan scheme.
Some students will be eligible for subsidised learning if you are currently unemployed and receive income support, or can prove that your education will be beneficial to your current employment. For further information please contact the Admissions Office.
College students have the opportunity to join the Student Management Forum which is managed by students to organise student activities. The Forum consists of a President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary. Events organised include social evenings, movie nights, barbeques, trips abroad and fund raising events.
Opening a UK bank account can often be difficult for foreign students. We have an excellent rapport with local banks and can offer students a reference to obtain banking facilities.
We'll assist you in getting an NI number from the Department of Works and Pensions (DWP) if you intend on working in London to assist with living expenses.
Accommodation generally ranges in price from £55 to £90 per week. We can arrange student accommodation for you if we have at least 4 weeks notice. Access the Accommodation section for more information.
Medical insurance is not necessary for overseas students who are in the UK for 6 months or longer. Students are advised to register with a local doctor upon arrival. Registration is free and we assist students with this if required.
We provide an airport collection service which costs £45 from Heathrow or £65 from Gatwick or Stansted airports. Please provide us with your flight details: carrier, flight number, arrival airport, date and time at least 48 hours before.
You can arrange to have your post delivered to CTL main office until you arrange your accommodation. Please request this service at reception when you arrive.
The College maintains an Intranet facility. The Intranet allows students to access past lessons, exam papers, guidance notes, handbooks, lesson plans, course material including texts, online audio and video.
Facilities soon to be released will allow students to access their own account which indicates their exam and assignment results, library borrowing, fees record and contact details.
