Pre-sessional Course List
Our pre-sessional courses aim to help you develop the English Language skills you will need to follow a degree course at a British university. They will assist you in developing the necessary cultural and study skills for effective learning through the medium of English and introduce you to life in Britain and to British culture. Finally, the courses provide the Student with the opportunity to 'settle into' the British academic environment before starting a programme of academic study at the College of Technology London.
Pre-sessional Course Details
[PSAE0] Academic English (Fast Track)
Description
The Academic English (Fast Track) programme is designed to enable students to develop their skills in English so that they can pursue their academic studies at the College of Technology London. Accordingly, the course works on developing the skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing (the four skills). Students also work on grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and discourse (the four systems). (Discourse refers to the ability to produce a fluent written text). Written work concentrates on the ability to write essays, and is mostly done as homework. Students are required to have an IELTS of at least 5.5 to enter the Academic English Higher programme.

[PSAE1] Academic English (Full)
Description
The Academic English (Full) programme helps students from non-English speaking backgrounds to develop the skills, fluency and confidence required to communicate effectively in English. Students will improve their overall abilities in both spoken and written English, as well as your understanding of British culture. After completing the programme, students will be better prepared for their chosen university degree or degree foundation studies.
Pre-requisites
Students are required to have an IELTS of at least 5.0 to enter the Academic English programme.

[PSAE2] Academic International English
Description
The Academic International English programme encourages students to practise speaking and listening together in pair and group work. They also listen to recordings of native speakers and read a variety of texts and answer questions in order to help develop their comprehension skills. They write essays on subjects relevant to the topic of each module. Each module also focuses on particular aspects of grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and discourse. As a result students improve their ability to understand and communicate in English, and develop greater accuracy in doing so along with a Entry Programme specially for students from business and non-business disciplines and without prior work experience in management.

Minimum entry age is 21 years.
Duration
This course offered as pre-sessional. Upon completion of the programme students are eligible for direct entry to the MBA and the duration of the programme is six (6) months.
[PSAE3] Academic Graduate English
Description
The Academic Graduate English programme helps students to be more confident in their ability to communicate in English, both spoken and written. They will develop their ability to understand spoken and written texts. They will improve their understanding of English grammar and become more accurate. They will develop a more extensive vocabulary. In addition they develop and apply the ability to communicate and understand English, both written and spoken and also develop greater accuracy in their communications. along with a graduate certificate which is aimed to provide a balanced combination of skills and knowledge necessary to prepare international students for progression MBA or business related Masters programmes.

Minimum entry age is 21 years.

[PSEE0] Executive English (Fast Track)
Description
Executive English (Fast Track) is designed for business executives from non-English speaking countries to improve their skills in subjects as diverse as academic writing, report writing, personal development, career development, negotiating, debating and presentation skills. In addition, students learn about British culture, the media, the Monarchy, the political and legal systems. The course builds students’ confidence in written and spoken English.

[PSEE1] Executive English (Full)
Description
Executive English (Full), as a standalone course is particularly useful to executives who already have a career, or are on a career sabbatical and require exposure to English language at business level, exposure to UK systems, particularly academic, UK business culture, legal and political systems, needs confidence building for business presentations and debating/ negotiating in English language, Additional skills in written English particularly report writing, memos, emails, notices, advertisements, etc.

[PSEE3] Executive International English
Description
Executive International English is designed for business executives from non-English speaking countries to improve their skills in subjects as diverse as academic writing, report writing, personal development, career development, negotiating, debating and presentation skills along with a graduate certificate which is aimed to provide a balanced combination of skills and knowledge necessary to prepare international students for progression MBA or business related Masters programmes.Executive International English (EBE) is designed keeping in mind that although many overseas students who study English achieve quite a good degree of spoken fluency, and are capable of a good level of understanding through reading and listening, they may still struggle when called upon to produce accurate academic writing. This is a more specialised skill which requires study and practice for students to be able to demonstrate a degree of accomplishment. This course is designed to prepare students for their future studies by introducing them to the conventions of academic writing in Britain along with a Entry Programme specially for students from business and non-business disciplines and without prior work experience in management.

[PSBMF] Business Management Foundation Programme
Description
The Business Management Foundation Programme aims to help student to use critical academic writing skills to address issues from both academic and practical perspectives. Critically appraise the main functions of management, such as planning, strategic development and managing change. Appraise and reflect on the key principles of marketing, management information systems and operational quality, and their role in an organisational context. Critically assess and analyse the use of key strategic tools such as benchmarking and competitor analysis. Demonstrate an understanding of the preparation and purpose of financial accounts. Understand the full range of business research methodologies, and design and execute research projects/studies.

[PSMEP] Masters Entry Programme
Description
The Masters Entry Programme is for students from business and non-business disciplines and without prior work experience in management. The course is an introduction to postgraduate business studies for students who are new to the UK, new to business studies, do not have business management experience, or have been away from a managerial role for some time and for Students who would like a refreshing business programme prior to commencing their MBA.
