NVQ in Registered Managers (Adults) - Level 4

This award is commonly known as the Registered Manager Award or RMA. It is the management qualification promoted by Topss for registered managers to attain by 2005, in order to meet the National Minimum Standards.
This NVQ is aimed at candidates who are managers within the care and social care sectors. It is suitable for candidates who:
- Be employed in a care role and provide both physical and enablement care to clients.
- Be committed to developing a career in care.
To be eligible you must:
- Be employed as a care home manager, or manage a service within the social care sector.
NVQ Standards
To achieve the qualification, the candidate must complete twelve units in total. These are drawn from five mandatory units and seven optional units. You should choose the optional units which best suit your work situation and job role. If you finish the four mandatory units plus the six optional units you will receive an OCR Level 4 NVQ in Registered Managers (Adults) certificate and another certificate listing the individual units you have achieved.

- Ensure individuals and groups are supported appropriately when experiencing significant life events
- Promote the interests of client groups in the community
Optional Group B
- Take responsibility for your business performance and the continuing development of self and others

- Create, maintain and develop an effective working environment
- Select personnel for activities
- Develop and sustain arrangements for joint working between workers and agencies
- Develop your plans for the business
Optional Group C
- Provide information to support decision-making
- Facilitate meetings

- Manage continuous quality improvement
- Monitor compliance with quality systems
Optional Group E
- Assess candidates using a range of methods
- Assess candidates’ performance through observation
- Conduct internal quality assurance of the assessment process
