NVQ in Management - Level 4

The Management 4 qualification is aimed at individuals with more personal responsibility and autonomy in their management role than level 3 supervisors. Although people at this level are often referred to as "first line managers", individuals may find that the focus of their work is more to do with managing projects, or with technical matters, than with people.

Like all NVQs this qualification is competence based so that the is linked to the candidate's ability to competently perform a range of tasks connected with their work. Candidates plan a programme of development and assessment with their assessor and compile a portfolio of evidence to prove that they are competent and knowledgeable in their work role.

To be eligible you must:

  • Be employed either full-time or part-time in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
  • Be committed to developing a career in management.
Assessment Plan:Fortnightly / monthly assessments at place of work.
Qualification:NVQ Management - Level 4 awarded by the London Chamber of Commerce Examinations Board (LCCI)

NVQ Standards

To achieve the full award candidates must complete nine units, including six mandatory units and three optional units.

Mandatory units

Candidates will be assessed in the following units:

  • Manage activities to meet requirements
  • Contribute to improvements at work
  • Develop your own resources
  • Develop productive working relationships
  • Provide information to support decision making

Restricted option - either one of

  • Manage the use of physical resources
  • Manage the use of financial resources
 

Optional units - any three of

  • Select personnel for activities
  • Develop teams and individuals to enhance performance
  • Manage the performance of teams and individuals
  • Respond to poor performance in the team
  • Facilitate meetings
  • Provide advice and support for the development and implementation of development of quality policies.
  • Implement quality assurance systems
  • Monitor compliance with quality systems
  • Carry out quality audits
  • Contribute to project planning and preparation
  • Co-ordinate the running of projects
  • Contribute to project closure
