NVQ in Business & Administration - Level 4

The Business & Administration Level 4 award is senior level candidates who are have been given considerable administrative responsibility, report to middle or senior management. Candidates will manage systems and resources, working with a high level of autonomy.

The candidates role will involve developing and monitoring facilities and resources to maintain an administrative service within the organisation. Responsibilities will include: developing administrative services, researching and analysing information to support decision making, managing and developing teams, and proposing and managing budgets.

To be eligible you must:

  • Be employed either full-time or part-time in an administrative capacity as a senior or high level administrator with considerable responsibility and autonomy in the workplace.
  • Be committed to developing a career in business and/or administration.
Assessment Plan:Fortnightly / monthly assessments at place of work.
Qualification:NVQ Business & Administration - Level 4 awarded by the London Chamber of Commerce Examinations Board (LCCIEB)

NVQ Standards

To achieve the qualification, the candidate must complete nine units in total. These are drawn from six mandatory units and three optional units.

Mandatory units

  • Maintain effective working relationships

  • Implement, monitor and maintain administrative services
  • Prepare and co-ordinate operational plans
  • Manage and continuously develop your own practice
  • Provide information to support decision-making

Optional Units

  • Provide the facilities for administrative services
  • Provide support for the planning and implementation of administrative services
  • Manage your organisation's facilities
  • Negotiate and manage agreements for supplies
  • Contributing to the planning and allocation of resources
  • Support and record formal meetings
  • Facilitate meetings
  • Develop teams and individuals to enhance performance
  • Manage the performance of teams and individuals
  • Select personnel for activities
  • Monitor your organisation’s compliance with its legal, regulatory, social, environmental and ethical responsibilities
  • Monitor procedures to control risks to health and safety
  • Manage the use of physical resources
  • Manage the use of financial resources
  • Maintaining financial records and preparing accounts
  • Preparing reports and returns
