Entry requirements for United States

If United States is not your country of nationality, please click here.

Visa Status

Students from the United States are considered 'visa nationals' by the UK government. As a result, you will need to apply for a UK visa.

For information on how to apply for a UK visa, visit the UK Visas website. If you are interested in enrolling in a course, see the How to Apply section for when you need to apply for your visa.

Minimum Qualifications

Entry into Undergraduate Degree progammes

If you are under 21 and wish to apply for direct-entry into an undergraduate honours degree programme (such as BABM or BIT), you will need to meet the College's minimum general entry requirement of two 'A' level passes or the equivalent in . If you don't meet this requirement you may be asked to enrol in a Degree Foundation course first.

If you are over 21 you are considered a 'mature age' student and will not necessarily be expected to meet the general entry requirement mentioned above. In certain circumstances, the College will admit mature age students without any formal qualifications at all, however, you must demonstrate your capacity to undertake degree-level work before we can offer you a place. The College may recommend you complete Degree Foundation in your chosen field before you start the degree.

Entry into the Postgraduate Degree programme

The Lampeter MBA requires applicants to be at least 20 years of age and have an overall pass in a prior undergraduate degree.

If you are over 24 you are eligible to entry the MBA programme without an undergraduate qualification if you have at least 1 year's management experience. An employer's reference will be required with your application.

English Proficiency

As a UK education institution, all course tuition is taught in English. As a result you are expected to meet the English proficiency requirements for the course you are interested in.

Students from the United States should select a course that does NOT have an English component. It is very unlikely that you will be granted a visa for an English course or one with an English component. A valid list of programmes that you should be selecting from are:

Note: MBA Entry and English

If you have studied English for the last two years of your education OR you have an IELTS score of 6.5 or higher, you may qualify for direct entry into the MBA programme (click here for other MBA entry requirements).

If your IELTS score is only 6.0, you can enter the Masters Entry Programme (MEP) as long as you meet the other prerequisites for the MEP. Starting with the MEP will assist you in adjusting to teaching styles in the UK and help your English proficiency reach an acceptible level for the MBA.
