Prestigious degrees from England & Wales' third oldest university...

The University of Wales Lampeter (UWL) enjoys the status of being the smallest university in Europe and, as part of the federal University of Wales, a member of one of the largest. Originally students studied mainly theology and the arts; today the selection is wide including business management, information technology and social sciences.

Lampeter is now the second highest ranked University in Wales for Business Management and in the top 30 in the UK according to the Guardian University Guide 2006.

Founded as St David's College by Bishop Thomas Burgess in 1822, the University of Wales Lampeter admitted its first students on St David's Day in 1827. After the ancient universities of Oxford, Cambridge and Scotland it is the oldest university institution in Britain, receiving its first charter in 1828. For more than a century it was an independent degree awarding college, offering a range of courses.

There is no other long-established university in the UK which now operates on an intimate human scale. Lampeter blends a long tradition of scholarship with recent developments in information technology. Its aim is to fuse together intellectual, cultural and personal development in a way which prepare students for the different challenges of the world of work.
